The WTC parking lot, across from the WTC and adjacent to the Hilton Hotel on Poydras St., offers a $5 “early bird” special for those who park their cars by 9:00 a.m.

"Into Africa" is designed to introduce area companies to trade and investment opportunities in Africa. The conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a plenary session, where the Ambassadors from Angola, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Namibia, Nigeria, and the Republic of Congo will discuss business opportunities in their countries. These speakers will be followed by representatives from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the Export-Import Bank, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and the African Development Bank outlining their respective Africa initiatives. Congressman Jefferson will address the luncheon that follows, and sector breakouts led by the Ambassadors and finance agency representatives will conclude the program in the afternoon.

  • Plenary session on "Doing Business in Africa" with a panel of African Ambassadors and representatives from major financing organizations
  • Presentations by a panel of African Ambassadors: Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Namibia, Nigeria, and The Republic of Congo
  • Presentation by a panel of major financing organizations: African Development Bank, Overseas Private Investment Corporation, U.S. Export-Import Bank, and U.S. Trade and Development Agency

Luncheon

  • Keynote address by Congressman William Jefferson, U.S. House of Representatives

Afternoon

  • Corporate Council on Africa Presentation
  • Sector Breakout Sessions: Agriculture/Fisheries, Mining, Oil/Energy, and Ports
