The U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is a landmark accord that will boost trade and investment opportunities for a wide range of U.S. businesses, including manufacturers, service providers, and farmers. Among its benefits, the FTA will immediately eliminate tariffs on 85% of consumer and industrial goods. The agreement also promises greater access for American companies to Chilean financial and professional services and substantially improved protection for investment and intellectual property rights. When implemented, the U.S.-Chile FTA will be the first comprehensive trade agreement between the United States and a South American country.
