Come On In -- The Water’s Fine!
Have you been thinking about getting
involved in the global marketplace but feel intimidated or have been
wondering where and how to start? Do terms like FOB, CIF, letters of
credit, bills of lading, and proforma invoices confuse you? How will the new Free Trade Agreements with other countries affect your business? Well,
wait no longer -- put your toe in the water right now and start
learning what it takes to export and import. And remember, you don’t
have to be the producer of a product or service to sell it abroad,
or to source goods or services from overseas to market in this
country. Instead, you can be an intermediary, sales representative,
or broker, as many others have successfully done.
The purpose of this introductory workshop is
to walk you through the fundamentals of an international
transaction, to give you an overview of the basic export-import
process, and to provide you with the confidence and comfort level to
convince you that it’s not as daunting as you may think to succeed
in international trade.
What Comes Next?
If you like what you hear at the
January 21 luncheon session, then you can learn more about this exciting -- and very profitable -- process by taking the next step and signing up for a package of
four 4˝-hour afternoon seminars
(1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.) to be held on February 2, 4, 9, and 11 at the World Trade Center and conducted by the Louisiana International Trade Center. In those seminars, you will learn step-by-step the “how-to” of international market research, preparing products for export & import, pricing strategies, terms of sale & quotations, export & import documentation, export shipping & import entry procedures, trade financing, and -- the bottom line -- methods of payment.
